Doing the 2004 transformation challenge was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had. I began weight training with Tony Vargas in my mid 40’s and while I saw changes to my physique I always felt I was missing something. I was what you would describe as a “skinny fat”, yes I wore a size 4 but I had well over 25% body fat! I always admired the look of the professional fitness and figure girls that graced the cover of fitness magazines and could never understand why I wasn’t achieving better results, after all I was lifting weights… At Tony’s urging I decided to enter the contest. It was during this 12 week magical time I learned so much about not only just doing weight training, but the importance of clean eating nutrition and cardio, cardio, cardio! I felt as though I finally got the missing pieces of the puzzle. I took on this challenge and made every day count. At the end of 12 weeks I had a new body and new found lease on life. I was proud to have won, but even more pleased with such a great feeling of accomplishment. It was Tony’s guidance, but I still had to do all the hard work!

I participated in the transformation challenge for the next 4 years in a row as this way of clean eating and training is now a part of my lifestyle. A personal best was lowering my body fat the following year to 12%. Each year is still hard. The sweat, determination and dedication has to be there, but I can honestly say I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m so much stronger, healthier and happier now than when I was in my 30’s! Thanks Tony for a true transformation of mind, body and spirit!
