My name is Gregory Ellerbe. I have been a licensed massage therapist for over 7years. I have been a certified trainer for over 13years and also have a medical background from serving in the U.S. military as a medic. Massage therapy has numerous health benefits. It has been used in the eastern world for thousands of years. Massage is well known and used around the world for its healing powers as an alternative to medicine. It is very useful with a good fitness program by helping the muscles heal; the muscles become stronger and in turn burn more calories. Also, with the increase in flexibility that massage provides you will recruit more muscles fibers during your workout in which bigger stronger muscles will develop to burn more calories and more body fat. Some of the other benefits of massage include:
- Relieves stress (stress causes the immune system to breakdown)
- Increased blood flow
- Relief of Chronic Aches and Pains
- Prevention of Injuries
- Combats the negative effects of aging
Types of Massages
SWEDISH MASSAGE: Swedish strokes to increase circulation and lymphatic drainage, boost your immune system, soothe aching muscles, and revitalize your mind and spirit.
NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY (DEEP): Therapy using soft tissue manipulation to balance the central nervous system with the skeleton and muscles of the body usually involving deep-tissue techniques, this form of therapy is based on laws which dictate how the central nervous system initiates pain responses. It seeks to stabilize low levels of neurological activity to maintain balance and overall health.
SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY: Massage therapy to improve debilitating condition that may have been caused by over exertion of certain muscles. It enhances a persons physical and mental recovery from a strenuous activity and assisting the individual in maintaining optimal health.
ON SITE CHAIR MASSAGE: A revolutionary way of offering the benefits of massage in public spaces. The on site chair massage can be given at the work station, office, cubicle, or any small place. The recipient is seated, and massage techniques are give through clothing are used. Focus is on the upper body- head, neck, shoulder, back, and arms. This is a perfect way for the employer to give back to the employees for their hard work. Also, it’s a great addition for parties and get-togethers.
THAI-YOGA MASSAGE: This type of massage is a combination of stretching, massage, and yoga. The massage focuses on the therapist assisting the client into deep stretches and assisted yoga positions while also compressing on key pressure points to relieve tension throughout the body. The goal is to increase the flexibility of the client but also to leave the client revitalized. The massage is done fully clothed, on the floor, on a mat.
